Clark Construction Website – Case Study

The Sutter Group was hired by Clark Construction, one of the top five largest commercial construction companies in the United States, to redesign and redevelop their website from the ground up. Their vision was a clean, easy to navigate site that could be maintained by their internal marketing staff with little to no HTML experience. Our solution was a site that integrated a robust CMS based on Expression Engine, our CMS of choice.

The site features integrated testimonial videos, time-lapse photography sequences, a custom flash timeline; and, on the homepage, The Sutter Group built a fully-customizable dynamic Flash slideshow that highlights some of the innovative features of their most notable projects. The team at Clark Construction can easily add featured products to this section as they wish.

The portfolio section features a 360 degree rotatable hard hat (originally custom-made to celebrate Clark’s 100 year anniversary) that allows the user to locate and explore projects appearing on it. This is another way Clark Construction was able to highlight both their experience and their history.

The site features a fully customizable content management system (CMS) that was setup to allow Clark administrators the ability to instantly add new projects, news items, awards and recognitions, and press release information to the site. A sophisticated tagging engine allowed relevant project information to be grouped together as they are added into the system. The Sutter Group also added a custom photo import tool that automatically crops and sizes the photos in the three different sizes needed for the site.

The featured project page displays more information and larger photos of projects worthy of further exploration. These pages are also uploaded and maintained by the Clark staff using the content management system - a necessary capability since this firm adds new projects, releases, images, and more almost weekly.
