Sutter Group designs and builds websites. We are not a brand agency that subcontracts development, and we are not a development shop that hands visual polish to a contract designer. Strategy, design, and engineering share the same team, which means the site that gets built is the one that was designed, and the design was built around how the site actually needs to work.
Most of our web work is built on WordPress, and for good reason. WordPress gives organizations meaningful control over their content without requiring a developer to publish a press release or update a staff directory. We build custom WordPress themes from scratch, using Advanced Custom Fields for structured content and a custom block library that matches the visual design rather than fighting it. The result is a CMS your communications team can use confidently without calling us every time something needs to change.
Our deepest web design experience is with associations, nonprofits, and professional organizations in the Washington DC area. An association website must serve multiple audiences simultaneously: prospective members evaluating whether to join, current members accessing resources, sponsors reviewing conference visibility, and board leadership assessing how the organization presents itself publicly. We understand how to structure and design for that complexity, and we have built association and nonprofit websites for national organizations across multiple sectors.
