Karen Sutter Elected to CRTC Board of Directors

We’re very happy to announce that our founder, Karen Sutter, was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council, a regional technology organization that we’re very proud to be a part of.

Here’s the news release from the CRTC website:

ANNAPOLIS, MD – December 19, 2011 — The Chesapeake Regional Tech Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and enriching the area’s growing technology industry, recently appointed a slate of Board Directors and Officers whose terms begin January 1, 2012.

Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) Tim Lorello will take over as President of the growing Chesapeake Regional Tech Council on January 1st. He replaces outgoing President Kevin Lancaster, Managing Partner of Winvale, who will remain on the Board as President Emeritus for a two-year term. Drawing upon his sixteen-year tenure with TCS, Tim brings a wealth of experience in wireless communications and converging technologies for both government and commercial sectors. Having been an active CRTC Board Member since 2008, Tim has a thorough understanding of the Council’s vision and culture and can build upon the ideas and programs generated under Kevin Lancaster’s leadership.

Mike Peart, President and Chief Executive Officer of i4DM, will serve as the Council’s Vice President. Mike was newly elected to the Board last year and brings 25 years of consulting experience in business intelligence and process, network engineering and application development to our growing technology community.

Re-elected as officers of the Board of Directors were John Elstner, Principal of Venture Point Partners who serves as the Council’s Treasurer and Rob Collins, Esquire and Founder of Collins Technology Law who serves as the Council’s Secretary. Both John and Rob have been active members of the Tech Council for many years, and each has been instrumental in providing executive level support for the organization’s business operations.

We are also pleased to introduce the following individuals, who have been newly elected to the Board of Directors for two-year terms and represent a broad range of technology innovation and services throughout the Annapolis-DC-Baltimore region:

CRTC Executive Director Kris Valerio remarked: “We are thrilled to have such strong leadership representing a diverse range of technology that services both the commercial and government sector on our Board. The CRTC community has worked very hard to become a regional resource for visibility, connections and opportunities for technology companies, and our incoming Board not only represents depth in technology experience and entrepreneurship but also the Tech Council’s geographic reach and impact.”

According to incoming President Tim Lorello, “TCS has been a long-term supporter of the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council.  As a dedicated board member, I have done my best to support the influential role that the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council plays in the Washington-Baltimore-Annapolis area. The Council uniquely brings together experts from a broad array of local organizations, and it channels that expertise into a business and technology focus to support a vibrant high-tech economy for our region. I am excited to add my leadership and experience to this ongoing vision.”

Congrats, Karen! A well-deserved honor!
