We’re all used to seeing images “screen printed” onto birthday cakes, from a kid’s favorite Disney character to intricate family photos. Now the company that brought you this customized “technology” is moving on to pizza – and they see the potential to use it as an advertising vehicle.
Custom Pizza as a Marketing Tactic
Any image can be put onto a pizza –after the pizza is cooked and sliced, the print is put on. Although more than 1,000 independent pizzerias do Pizza Prints, no national brands have jumped on board with this personalized pizza trend. Maybe it’s only a matter of time.
On one hand, we dig it because we can totally see ourselves becoming the “Pizza Sponsor” of a business event and showing up with 20 pizzas with TSG’s logo on them. There’s a certain cool factor because it’s so new. But on the other hand, we’re a bit skeptical of whether it will catch on. It’s great for parties, but would consumers welcome something delivered to their homes with a logo screen printed on it? Hard to say, but I’d have to see some market research first.
Either way, it might be worth filing this one in your idea bin. If your brand ever needs a new and innovative guerilla tactic to explore, this just might be the one. Come to think of it, there’s no tastier marketing tactic that we can think of…
